Marcela Tobon

Ms. Tobon has served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Playa Hotels & Resorts since July 2024. Ms. Tobon joined Playa in 2014 and has been instrumental in fostering connections between corporate offices and regional properties, as well as establishing the legal department's business partnerships with various teams. She has played a key role in supporting the growth of third-party management contracts and developing modifications to franchise agreements tailored to Playa’s specialized business model. In her current role, she leads development transactions, oversees sales and marketing contracts, supports corporate governance, and addresses operational needs in third-party management. Ms. Tobon holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Corporate Law from New York University School of Law, a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Law Degree from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. She is admitted to the Bar in Colombia and New York and is registered as an authorized in-house counsel with the Florida Bar.
