Hal Stanley Jones served as Chief Financial Officer of Graham Holdings Company, a diversified education and media company from 2013 until 2018. From 1989 until 2013, Mr. Jones worked in various capacities at The Washington Post Company, an American daily newspaper, the most widely circulated newspaper published in Washington, D.C. From January 2009 to September 2013, he served as the Senior Vice President-Finance and Chief Financial Officer. From January 2008 to December 2009 he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Kaplan Professional, a subsidiary of The Washington Post Company. From 2003 to 2006 he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Kaplan International, a subsidiary of The Washington Post Company. Prior to joining The Washington Post Company, Mr. Jones worked for Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) from 1977 to 1988. Mr. Jones also served as a director of a predecessor of the company. In addition, Mr. Jones serves on the board of directors and audit committee of Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN), since December 2019, and Studio Theatre, a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. Mr. Jones received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
